Project!

I've started a new writing project! I know, I'm excited too!

In basic terms it's set to be a "choose your own adventure" kind of story based on the internet. At the moment, of course, it is in very early stages of planning. I've written a couple of the parts, but I'm planning on writing much more over the summer (once this degree is finally done).

The story starts in the centre of what could be called a labyrinth. In it the character's fate is decided by the reader through the choices they make for her. There is only one way out of this labyrinth, but the key to it is to not always trust your instincts. Of course, the fact that it's on the internet will mean that it'll be easy to retrace one's steps if a wrong turn is taken and/or the character dies.

At the moment, because of it's experimental and rough quality, as well as it's unplannedness, I will not publish a link here. However, I will aim for one to be available as soon as possible, no dates yet though. Once it's finished with the writing process I will send the link to several friends so that they can go through and check that all the links match up to the right places etc.

Over the summer there's also supposed to be some movement on my novel, which is in the process of being thoroughly rewritten.

It'll be a busy summer with Malta also happening along with looking at accommodation for Mark, Ash and then later me and Hayley. Hopefully I'll be able to cram everything in and also get quite a lot of random observations written in my new notebook for people watching.

Should be fun.

The Very First

There's something rejuvenating about starting to develop a new blog. A brand new start, a blank page, a bright new idea. It's shiny and clean, unsullied by the corrosion of the world, not yet dulled from dust.

With my final year project behind me I'm starting to, very slowly, think about writing again. The draining, crippling idea of needing new inspiration for every assignment is beginning to wear away. It's like the morning after rain when the world is suddenly full of fresh air and cool still water. The light wind rustles your hair, the golden morning light is bright and clean. The birds are singing, their voices are sharp and full of music. How can you not love this morning, how can you possibly not feel like sitting in a field and writing?

I've been thinking about continuing the rewrite on my first novel Just Out of Reach (working title). Sending it out to Mark and Ash has brought back such positive feedback. I feel like taking this fresh line of plot and running with it, seeing where it takes me. I actually even did some planning today. I planned the next chapter. I've known what has to happen in it, of course, but taking it and breaking it down is something I hadn't done for a long time.

It's amazing just how much fire can be gained from positive feedback.

I need to get back into reading too. Being told I have to read certain books completely wiped my thirst for them. All those story-lines I should be reading... I just can't let them go to waste.

I haven't had a writing blog for close to a year now. Let's hope this one is more of a success than the last.
